Mitchell Leads Cavs with 45 Points
Cavs Win 97-83 in Game 1
The Cleveland Cavaliers opened their best-of-seven first-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic with a 97-83 victory on Sunday.
Donovan Mitchell led the way for the Cavs with 45 points, followed by Darius Garland with 18 points and Jarrett Allen with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
The Magic were led by Paolo Banchero with 22 points, followed by Franz Wagner with 15 points and Wendell Carter Jr. with 13 points.
The Cavs took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Magic 32-18 to take a 52-38 halftime lead. Mitchell scored 15 points in the quarter, including a pair of three-pointers.
The Magic rallied in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 70-63, but the Cavs pulled away in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
The two teams will meet again in Game 2 of the series on Tuesday at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
