Arsenal Receives Blow In Pursuit Of Lille Forward After Juventus Intervention

Arsenal receives blow in pursuit of Lille forward after Juventus intervention

LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David has emerged as a major target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, but the Gunners have now suffered a significant setback in their pursuit of the Canadian international

According to reputable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Juventus have entered the race for David's signature and are considered to be the favorites to secure his services.

Arsenal had previously been considered the frontrunners to sign David, who has been in impressive form for Lille this season, scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions.

The Gunners were said to be prepared to meet Lille's asking price of around £40 million for the 22-year-old, but Juventus' interest has now complicated matters.

The Serie A giants are reportedly willing to offer a higher transfer fee than Arsenal and are also able to offer David Champions League football, which could be a major factor in his decision.

David is said to be keen on playing for a top club and competing for major trophies, so Juventus' offer could be hard to resist.

Arsenal will now have to decide whether to increase their offer for David or look elsewhere for a new striker.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of other forwards in recent weeks, including Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City and Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan.

However, David is seen as a more realistic target, and Arsenal will be keen to avoid missing out on the Canada international to Juventus.

The summer transfer window is set to open in June, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal can make a late push to sign David.
