Kyle Lowry Trade

Kyle Lowry Traded to Philadelphia 76ers

Former Heat Guard Agrees to Contract Buyout

Lowry Set to Sign with 76ers for Remainder of Season

Kyle Lowry is on the move again. The veteran point guard has agreed to a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets, clearing the way for him to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers for the rest of the season, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lowry, 36, is in the final year of a three-year, $85 million contract that he signed with the Heat in 2021. He spent the last two and a half seasons in Miami, averaging 13.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game.

The Hornets acquired Lowry in a sign-and-trade deal with the Heat last offseason. However, he has struggled to find his footing in Charlotte, averaging just 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game this season.

The 76ers are in need of a point guard after Tyrese Maxey suffered a foot injury that is expected to keep him out for several weeks. Lowry is expected to fill that void and provide the 76ers with a veteran presence and leadership in the backcourt.

Lowry is a six-time All-Star and has helped lead the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat to NBA championships. He is known for his toughness, defense, and playmaking ability.
